Product development / OEM / ODM

We make products that are not on the market yet.

Eleven stages, from organising the requirement to delivery. We do not introduce you to a factory and stop there. Whether it can be made, what it will cost, how to proceed — we take on each judgement and each adjustment, and turn it into a product.

The process

Eleven stages, and the decisions that belong to you.

Which stages a project needs depends on the project. A logo application finishes early; development from scratch runs through all eleven. Before any large cost is committed, we get you to a physical sample and to a point where the next decision can actually be made. That is what our process is for.

01

Requirement definition

What the product has to do. Who uses it, and in what environment. What the target cost and quantity are.

02

Feasibility & cost direction

Whether it can be made. Which process suits it. And what moves the price.

03

Reference research

We research existing products, materials, competing products, and the things that already work in the market.

04

Industrial design

Form, ease of use, balance and finish. We work with designers where the product calls for it.

05

3D / CAD and drawings

The specification becomes the geometry, tolerances and drawings a factory can quote from.

06

Prototype

A physical sample you can hold, use in service, and reject.

07

Revision

The stage that decides quality. Changes here are low cost; changes after tooling are high cost.

08

Tooling

We start only when there is an approved sample and a confirmed specification.

09

Manufacturing management

We manage the production plan, factory communication, materials and schedule.

10

Quality control

Inspection against the agreed standard. Defects are not let through — each is judged pass or fail.

11

Packaging & delivery

Retail and transport packaging, documentation, shipping, and support after delivery.

Scope

Logo & private label

Putting your logo or mark on an existing product — the shortest route. The minimum quantity is decided by the marking method.

Modification

Changing only what needs to change, on top of an existing product: capacity, finish, handle, weight, packaging.

New product

A way to give form to a product that is not on the market yet. The timeline is the longest and the tooling investment the largest.

Packaging

Boxes, inserts, print and protection in transit. We get the product delivered intact and into a state where it can be chosen on a shelf.

Before you ask

What does a development project cost?
It depends on the manufacturing method, whether tooling is needed, and the production quantity. Tell us what the product is and roughly how many you plan, and we will give you a sense of the cost before any formal quotation.
How long does development take?
It depends on the product. Work applied to an existing product can sometimes move quickly, while new development needs design, prototyping and verification. Once we have seen the details, we propose a schedule that actually holds.
Who owns the design?
Rights to the design and the scope of its use are agreed in writing before development starts. Confidentiality, and whether the product may be sold to anyone else, are settled project by project.
Can you develop something that is not barware?
Yes — start by telling us about it. Barware is where we are strongest, but depending on the product we can take on development in other fields too. When we cannot, we say so and explain why.

Describe the product. We will tell you if it can be made.

A sketch, a photograph of something close, or one sentence about what is wrong with what exists today — any of those is a workable starting point.
